The aim of the Association is to foster and promote the game of Lawn Green Bowls in the Basingstoke District. The District is defined as being within 20 miles radius of Basingstoke Town Hall and any Club formed within this area in the County of Hampshire is eligible to apply for affiliation. Comprising 14 member clubs, as at 2023, the BDBA is an open association with leagues and competitions gender independent
The Association organises a Monday evening Triples League , a Friday evening Rinks League, and knockout competitions in nine individual and multi player disciplines, including the inter club Hants and Berks Cup.
Friendlies may also played against other Bowling Associations within Hampshire and the surrounding Counties during the outdoor season, as well as Indoor Friendlies over the winter season.
